Improvements

What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

One small improvement I could make would be to stay focused on my studies.

Making small improvements would be purely a performance based thing and it’s not to be confused with spiritual things. No amount of performance will earn you any merit with God. however, our submissiveness to God can be improved upon every day.

Small improvements are important because they accumulate over time, leading to significant progress. They’re manageable, sustainable, and help build momentum, making larger goals more achievable. Plus, they foster a sense of accomplishment and keep motivation high, but spiritual things work much differently.

People improve their lives for various reasons, like seeking happiness, fulfillment, success, or personal growth. It’s often driven by a desire for progress, meaning, or simply wanting to overcome challenges. However, we should focus on pleasing God as our number one priority. Our faith pleases God but our performance would purely be good works. Proper works would not produce proper faith, but proper faith produces proper works.

Faith in Christ, and what he did on the cross is where we start in our faith journey. Do you remember when Peter walked on the water? It really wasn’t the water he was walking on, it was the word of God. When he kept his eyes on Jesus, he did well. When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and started looking at the waves, he started to sink.

All of the little improvements we make from day to day wouldn’t earn us any merit with God, just the same as righteousness does not come by the law Romans 7. That’s because righteousness only comes by Jesus Christ. The best improvements come from inside out, and Christ is the source.

Galatians 2:20–21 (MEV): 20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not nullify the grace of God. For if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ died in vain.
