“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). The way we turn from sinner to saint and become righteous before God is “imputation,” meaning, “we are accounted righteous before God” by GodHimself!
John 14:6 (MEV): 6 *Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Through faith in Jesus Christ, and what he did on the cross, righteousness is imputed to us and we become justified, meaning that we take the position of a righteous person because of what Christ did on the cross. When God sees us, he sees his son Jesus. We become children, sons and daughters of the living God.
