Chain letters

Do you remember life before the internet?

What I remember about life before the Internet were chain letters. It’s kind of unusual that chain letters never stopped, they just upgraded platforms.

A chain letter is a message that instructs the recipient to forward it to a specified number of other people. These letters often promise benefits for continuing the chain, such as good luck or financial gain, or threaten misfortune for breaking it. Chain letters can be sent through various means, including traditional mail, email, or social media. They have been around for many years and often exploit superstitions, social pressure, or a sense of urgency to encourage participation.

I know some of these things are fun and games, but we need to be sure we’re not involved in something that is unfavorable in the eyes of the Lord.

Ephesians 5:11–13 (MEV): 11 And do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness; instead, expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 *But all things are exposed when they are revealed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.

Philippians 4:8 (MEV): 8 *Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.
