Romans 8:6 (MEV): 6 *To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace,
This is a generalized statement that applies to many examples. It does not require a whole lot of interpretation.
We know that there are certain thoughts that are going to hinder us from experiencing life and peace.
Through Christ, we could overcome that voice that says I need a drink, or that voice that says I need a cigarette. That voice that says I need to look at these dirty pictures. I want to share some keys to overcoming to overcoming addictions.
Sin has no more dominion over you.
We must understand that sin doesn’t have power over you anymore.
Romans 6:13–14 (MEV): 13 Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but yield yourselves to God, as those who are alive from the dead, and your bodies to God as instruments of righteousness. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace.
Yes, you can overcome intrusive thoughts. The Scriptures below tell us how.
The key to overcoming the carnal mind is found in:
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (MEV): 4 *For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, 5 *casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Philippians 4:8–9 (MEV): 8 *Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things. 9 *Do those things which you have both learned and received, and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Romans 8:6–8 (MEV): 6 *To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace, 7 *for the carnal mind is hostile toward God, for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can it be, 8 *and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
