How do you practice self-care?
You know what’s interesting about self-care? It’s about practicing awareness. That’s essentially how I practice self-care. Awareness is not an unbiblical thing. Let me explain. There’s a difference between self-care and allowing yourself to become self willed. Denial of self, such as discussed in the gospels, does not mean that we deprive ourselves of the basic essentials of life. It means that we are willing to put God‘s will ahead of our own. We need to be aware of what things could potentially cause us harm. I would say that being aware, is part of our nature and is essential to self-care.
Philippians 3:2 (MEV): 2 *Watch out for dogs, watch out for evil workers, watch out for those who practice mutilation.
Matthew 26:41 (MEV): 41 *Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
