Spiritual warfare

Spiritual warfare refers to the concept of battling against evil forces or influences, often through prayer, faith, and spiritual discipline. It’s a common theme in Christianity, where it’s believed that believers are in a constant struggle against the forces of darkness, such as Satan and his demons. This battle is often seen as taking place on both a personal level, involving one’s own thoughts and actions, and on a larger, cosmic scale.

Key aspects of spiritual warfare include:

  1. Prayer: Seeking God’s assistance and protection. Isaiah 54:17 (MEV): 17 *No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me, says the Lord.
  2. Faith: Trusting in the power and promises of God to overcome evil. 2 Samuel 22:3–4 (MEV): 3 the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my fortress and my sanctuary; my Savior, You save me from violence. 4 I call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy, and I am saved from my enemies.
  3. Scripture: The Bible calls, the scripture, the sword of the Spirit. Ephesians 6:17 (MEV): 17 *Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
  4. Resistance: Actively resisting temptations and negative influences. James 4:7 (MEV): 7 *Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  5. Community: Engaging with a faith community for support and encouragement. Hebrews 10:25 (MEV): 25 *Let us not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but let us exhort one another, especially as you see the Day approaching.
