The ways in which God honors his word.

What God spoke to Israel in the book of Jeremiah is just as relevant today for the church as it was back then for Israel. God honors His written word, just as he did, when He spoke through his prophets, because, it’s a part of his character.

Jeremiah 29:23 (MEV): 23 *because they have committed folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them. Indeed, I know and am a witness, says the Lord.

Lamentations 3:37 (MEV): 37 *Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?

Only God could call things that be not as though they were, so that means, I have a responsibility to say what God says about you.

God says we need to speak life instead of death, blessing instead of cursing, so that means that I have the responsibility to do what God said to do.

Why is that important?

Because God said you can’t curse what he has blessed.

If you want to see, what failure looks like, go ahead and curse what God has blessed.

So now we know that we could say things that will fail if we don’t represent God’s character.

We also know that God will support a curse upon the ungodly and disobedient. This is why we must be careful not to judge one another because God won’t curse who he has blessed. Jesus is the only remedy to get out from underneath that kind of curse because curses are broken at the cross for those who trust in Christ.
