We should be warned about the deception of Anti-intellectualism. Anti-intellectualism is hostility and mistrust of intellect. God has an intellect far beyond all that we could comprehend but that doesn’t mean we are void of intellect or that God is not comprehensible. We were given an intellect because we are the reflection of God’s image in His creation. We were considered a fallen people when sin entered the world. Without God’s help we fail to see His intellect in spiritual things because this intellect is not recognized with the carnal mind. Failure to remember truth will allow the decay of fallen nature to interrupt our lives. My conclusion Anti-intellectualism is a failure to recognize the true nature of God and His truth and intellect could be influenced by both the spiritual mind and the carnal mind, which one will you yield to today? Pick up your cross and follow Jesus.
No one ever questioned the fact that Moses was a man of great intellect.
No one ever questioned the fact that Luke was a man of vast historical knowledge.
No one ever question Paul concerning his vast knowledge and understanding of the Old Testament.
Epaphras reported the great love that those of Colosse had for their brothers in Christ Paul and Timothy
And they had this to say:
Colossians 1:9 9 *For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; [1]
God has gifted believers with a spiritual intellect of wisdom and understanding.
Our intellect is lost if it has no knowledge of the truth.
Many of our struggles in life can be avoided when we embrace truth.
The book of Proverbs had this to say:
Proverbs 4:5
5 Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget it, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Proverbs 4:7
7 *Wisdom is principal; therefore get wisdom.
And with all your getting, get understanding. [2]
29 *Jesus answered, “You err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.[3]
