Building the Proper Perception in a Chaotic World

How do we carefully avoid the misunderstanding others?

Some of us may be unsure how to get there.

Today we’ll observe a few passages of scripture from Proverbs and expand upon its meaning with a passage from the book of James.

Proverbs 18:13

He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, It is folly and shame unto him.[1]

James 1:19

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:[2]

Why?, Because of perception.

Perception is the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses.

Perception can be so deceiving if its incomplete.

That’s where wisdom comes in. What is wisdom?

Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge.

Proverbs 4:7

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:

And with all thy getting get understanding.[3]

If we want to build upon our perception of a matter, we need receive a proper understanding of the situation at hand.

How do we do that?

Proverbs 18:15

15    The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge;

And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.[4]

The prudent, the carful or sensible gets knowledge.

The wise are looking for Knowledge.

Why are all these things important for us today?

Titus 3:8

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. [5]

James 2:18

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works[6]

When Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding has been applied to good works, we are more likely reflect the love of our Heavenly Father in a chaotic world without God.
