Jesus gives authority to command sickness, disease, and demons.
He opens it to all:
- Commanding the fever to leave: He went out of the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was taken ill with a high fever, and they asked Him about her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she rose and served them. (Luke 4:39, MEV)
- Commanding the lame to walk: 6 Then Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 He took him by the right hand and raised him up. Immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened. (Acts 3:6–7, MEV)
- Commanding demons to come out
She did this for many days. But becoming greatly troubled, Paul turned to the spirit and said, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out at that moment. (Acts 16:18, MEV)
Examples of Christ commanding illnesses of different types.
- Commanding sickness (fever) to leave.
- Commanding to walk for birth defect.
- Command demon to leave
- Jesus Commanded disease to be healed from a distance.
In this example we see the difference between asking and commanding.
22 Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. 23 For truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:22–24, MEV)
Jesus opens his authority to “those who believe” we also to the example of the 70 that he gave the same authority in Luke 10:1-34.
17 These signs will accompany THOSE WHO BELIEVE: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17–18, MEV)
