Hebrew Text Rediscovered

The Hebrew texts of John and Luke discovered in what has been dubbed the “Vatican junk box” have sparked significant interest among scholars and historians. These manuscripts, written in ancient Hebrew, were found tucked away in a neglected section of the Vatican Library and appear to represent early translations or versions of the Gospels. Their existence challenges long-held assumptions about the linguistic and cultural transmission of the New Testament, suggesting that some early Christians may have preserved or circulated Hebrew versions of these texts. While the full implications are still being studied, the find opens the door to new discussions about the Jewish roots of the Gospel narratives and the diverse ways Scripture was preserved and transmitted in the early centuries of the church.

John 1:1-2 in the MEV

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God”.

The phrase “was with God“

Was translated as “next to Elohim“ from the Hebrew. By a Bible Scholar named Nehemiah Gordon.

This could be considered additional historical proof, for Trinitarian theology.
