The Unjust Judge

The parable of the unjust judge has always stood out to me as a reminder of God’s faithfulness, especially when life feels unfair. In Luke 18, Jesus tells of a widow who persistently pleads for justice from a judge who “neither feared God nor cared what people thought.” Though he had no compassion, the judge gave in simply because she wouldn’t stop coming. To me, this highlights the power of persistent prayer—not because God is like the unjust judge, but because He is the exact opposite: loving, just, and attentive. If even an unjust judge can respond, how much more will our righteous Father respond to His children who call on Him day and night?

Therefore, the Lord longs to be gracious to you,

and therefore, He waits on high to have mercy on you;

for the Lord is a God of justice;

how blessed are all who long for Him.  (Isaiah 30:18, MEV)

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;

the Lord will give favor and glory,

for no good thing will He withhold

from the one who walks uprightly.  (Psalm 84:11, MEV)
