God Gave Us the Bible So We Could Know Him and Give Him Glory

The Bible is more than just a book—it’s God’s personal message to humanity. From Genesis to Revelation, it reveals who He is, what He has done, and how we are to live in response. God gave us the Bible so that we could know Him—not just know about Him, but truly walk with Him in relationship. Through its pages, He invites us to understand His heart, receive His grace, and live a life that brings Him glory.

God reveals Himself through Scripture.

In a world full of confusion, opinions, and spiritual noise, the Bible stands as the clear voice of God. Scripture tells us that “All Scripture is breathed out by God” (2 Timothy 3:16, ESV). That means every word carries the weight and truth of God Himself. Through the Bible, we see His holiness, love, justice, mercy, and faithfulness. We learn that He is not distant or unknowable—He wants to be known.

The Bible shows us God’s character through His actions—His covenant with Abraham, His deliverance of Israel, His patience with a rebellious people, and ultimately, His redemption plan through Jesus Christ. Without Scripture, we would be left guessing who God is. But with it, He makes Himself known.

The Bible leads us to salvation.

More than anything, the Bible points us to Jesus. The Old Testament looks forward to Him; the New Testament reveals Him. John 5:39 says, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me.” Jesus is the centerpiece of God’s message. Through the Bible, we come to understand our sin, our need for a Savior, and the good news of the cross and resurrection.

The Scriptures are not just moral lessons—they are life-giving truth that lead us to salvation and eternal relationship with God.

The Bible guides us to live for His glory.

Once we know God, the Bible doesn’t stop there. It teaches us how to live in a way that pleases Him. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” God gave us His Word not only to inform us, but to transform us. It shapes our hearts, corrects our paths, and teaches us how to live holy lives in a broken world.

Living for God’s glory means reflecting His character, trusting His promises, and obeying His commands. When we love as He loves, serve as He served, and live by faith, we show the world who He is.

God is glorified when we treasure His Word.

God is glorified when we treat His Word as the treasure it is. When we open our Bibles, we are opening the very thoughts of God. We glorify Him when we believe it, obey it, and share it. The Bible is not just a spiritual tool; it’s a love letter, a roadmap, a mirror, and a sword. It’s how we grow, fight temptation, and stand firm in a shifting culture.

A gift worth everything.

God didn’t leave us in the dark. He gave us the Bible so we could know Him personally and live lives that shine for His glory. Every page calls us closer to the heart of God. Every verse invites us to trust Him more. And every command leads us into a life that honors Him.

Let us read it, love it, and live it—because through it, we know the One who made us, saved us, and calls us His own.
