The Hiding Place

A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind,

and a shelter from the tempest,

as rivers of water in a dry place,

as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.  (Isaiah 32:2, MEV)

Isaiah 32:2 paints a powerful picture of godly leadership and protection, describing a man who brings safety, refreshment, and peace in the midst of chaos. Like a shelter from fierce winds and storms, he provides stability when the world around is unstable. As rivers of water in a dry place, his presence brings life, hope, and nourishment to those spiritually parched. And like the cool shadow of a great rock in a weary land, he offers rest and comfort to the exhausted. This verse ultimately points us to Christ, the perfect fulfillment of such a man—our refuge in every storm, our source of living water, and our rest in the heat of life’s trials.
