Jesus said:
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body be thrown into hell. (Matthew 5:30)
Here Jesus was using a parable to capture the attention of His listeners. Cutting off the hand is symbolic of the sin that captures our heart and pulls us away from God. We need to cut away the sin that pulls us away from God.
15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that bears no fruit, He takes away. And every branch that bears fruit, He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. (John 15:1–2, MEV)
