North Korea Recently in the News

North Korea has fired several short-range ballistic missiles toward the waters near Japan on August 20th 2026, raising concerns across the region. The missiles were launched from the Pyongyang area and traveled several hundred kilometers before landing in the sea. They did not strike Japan, but the launches were closely monitored by Japanese, South Korean, and U.S. officials.

The missile launches come at a time when tensions remain high between North Korea, South Korea, Japan, and the United States. North Korea has continued to object to U.S.-South Korean military exercises, viewing them as a threat to its security. These missile tests appear to be another demonstration of North Korea’s military capabilities and its willingness to send a message to neighboring countries.

Although the missiles landed in the sea and did not hit Japan, the situation remains serious. Continued missile testing by North Korea creates concern for the safety and security of countries throughout the region. It also shows that tensions on the Korean Peninsula remain high and that future launches could continue to challenge efforts to maintain peace and stability.

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,  (Matthew 5:44, MEV)
