It’s on the hat!

Christians should recognize the importance of voting because the decisions made by our elected leaders affect our families, communities, religious freedoms, and future generations. The Bible encourages us to seek wisdom, stand for what is right, and care about the well-being of others. Voting gives Christians an opportunity to participate in decisions that shape our nation.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we should not allow our voices to go unheard. We can vote according to our biblical convictions, carefully examine candidates and their policies, and consider how their decisions affect the vulnerable, the unborn, our children, and the freedom to practice our faith. We should never blindly follow a political party or candidate, but instead seek wisdom and make informed decisions guided by our Christian values.
Our faith should influence how we participate in our communities, including how we vote. We must remember that our hope is ultimately in Jesus Christ, not in politicians or political parties. However, choosing to participate in elections gives us an opportunity to exercise our civic responsibility, stand for our convictions, and help shape the future of our nation. Christians should pray, stay informed, and make their voices count.
Proverbs 29:2 (KJV)
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
Jesus recognized a distinction between civil responsibilities and our ultimate responsibility to God. While this passage does not specifically command voting, it helps Christians think about their relationship with government.
Matthew 22:21 (KJV)
“Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”
Our first responsibility is to God. This implies that we should be honest with our civil duties. When we honor God first, we will do what is right as a citizen.
